Facebook Fans

Many businesses are discovering that Facebook is one of the best ways to advertise their business for free. The Facebook fan page is one of the most popular choices. The page can be used for any type of business and can be set up from the business owner’s personal account. The best feature—it’s completely free!  To create the page, click on “advertise” at the bottom of you’re the Facebook home page. Look for the icon that says “pages.” This is where you can begin to create your page.

What Makes a Great Fan Page?

  • Content, content, content! The Fan Page is set up just like the profile page. You can promote a special with your status report. Blog about your business in the notes section. Post often to keep people coming back.
  • Add interesting pictures and videos. Show them what your business looks like and where it is. Add pictures of your staff. Shoot a video that is a ‘virtual tour’ of your office. Be creative! (Quick tip: Make sure that your pictures and videos are not blurry. You will appear unprofessional if you have pictures and videos that are of poor quality.
  • Don’t forget to add a link to your website. This is a great way to get traffic on your site. Facebook does not have a feature that allows you to sell your products or services on the site, so you want to make sure that customers know where to go to buy.

How to Use Your Fan Page

  • Start a discussion about your business. You may get a few customers based on your answers.
  • Add links to interesting news stories or websites.
  • Have satisfied customers tell their stories. Testimonials give you credibility!
  • Offer special discounts to anyone that follows you on your Facebook.

How to find “fans”

If you have a personal Facebook page, ask your friends to become fans of your business. Go into your friend’s list and look at their friends. Ask them to become your friend. You can also find friends from a certain geographical areas. Simply type the area you want to target into the search box. You will see potential ‘fans’ that live in your neighborhood.

But don’t forget your current customers. Send an email or direct mail piece letting them know you are on Facebook. They will likely find you and become a fan, too!
